Watch out or you will be mass producing these scrubbies.
Ok one of my awsome friends in Az was asking how I make my scrubbies and since she is on a personal mission to save those green backs im doing a blog on how I crotchet my own scrubbies for cleaning and doing dishes. I learned how to make them in highschool on one of my grandmothers many craft kicks and I am very thankful to know how to make these. Some perks are they are super cheap to make. we are talking like 6 bucks for like 50 or something maybe 12 if you want two colors but then you just more. Sorry I havent counted out how many you can make someone can do that if they like and let me know. And perk number two you arent cleaning with cemicals. And perk 3 they are save on your nonstick pans were as SOS pads arent. So on to the directions and some picks that I hope help.
So to start you want to get some tulle. I get 3 yards for these and in any color you want. The joys of tulle are its cheap and it comes in almost every color you can think of. So once you have bought your tulle you want to cut it into strips that are about 2inches wide and the 3 yards long. ( I hate cutting tulle to I normally try to sweet talk Justin into cutting it all for me.) As you can see for this one I used red and black tool.
Once you have it all cut you want to roll these strips into balls for no other reason then its easyer to work with. Yes the black ball is smaller but that is because it was rolled tighter. this really shouldnt affect your finished scrubbie.
So now that you have your balls you want to place the two strips together and and make a slip knot. And then place your hook I used a size P hook because you want a big hook for these. and pull it to a midium loose loop around your hook.
This is your knot before you tighten it.
And then you want to chain 3. Once you have those 3 chained you want to go back into the first chain and make a loop.
Once you have your loop you want to chain 3 more and this is your first stitch of your scrubbie. I know you are getting excited now because you are done with the hard part of these and that wasnt all that hard.
Now all you have ahead of you is double crochets and then to finish it. So useing your hole in the center you want to starting doing double sticked over and over again.
Remember your double stickes have three loops on your hook. Before you start pulling through.
Remember you want these to be thick and fluffy. So as you stich and squish you will go all the way around your loop till you run out of tulle or you just can not get any more stitches on it. Once you are at this point you will then use your first stitch to finish it off and then knot it off. To do this go into your first stitch and grabbing your tale pull it all the way through and pull it tight creating your knot, You can do this as many times as you like to till you are comfertable that the knot will hold.. Cut off any extra and enjoy your new scrubbies. These can go into your dishwasher with your dishes when they get to be to grimie. And when they just are to unraved just toss it in the trash and grab one of your other ones or make more.
I love useing these and I hope you will enjoy them as well .

I am in LOVE!!
With my steamer!! I know that seems like a silly thing to say but I am. This year with our taxes I knew I wanted to get the shark pocket mop steam cleaner. I had accually been asking for it for a while and so Justin said with Taxes it could be mine. and I love it it steams the carpets and dose a better job on my floors then any map I have ever had. And you dont get that line of yuck at the edges of your mopping at the corners or were you hit the wall and pull it back, that has always driven me nuts. And when its all said and done you take off the pad toss it in with your regular wash (I shoot mine down with stray and wash and then toss it in) and its good for the next time I mop.
And as you can see from the triagle one it can really get into those tight spaces. But I have to admit I havent used that one yet I have been more then happy with the regular one. So I knew I wanted this one. And then I was stopped on Facebook one day by my friend Jenn raving about her hand held steamer. Also a Shark. She loved it and was shocked at one how dirty what looked clean was and two how clean steam could get things. And so I had to check it out. I watched the video for it online and was thinking of how cool it could be to have one. But I was sure that I could never talk Justin into it. Seeing as that would be another 100 for it. And then the angles smiled down from on high. Cosco was running a special 80 for the hand held
I havent done tons with it but I do know that it gets crayon off of glass and walls, and Justin used it to super clean the stove and get baked on grease off of the hood that I had been trying to work my way through since we moved in. But for any mom with a toddler and a half the crayon was the perk call me crazy. But its been since Febuary that I have had these and so Im sure you can guess that its not the main reason for this blog.
Justin has a shirt that is with out question the bain of my existance. It doesnt matter how fast I get it from the dryer and on to a hanger that dang thing is ALWAYS a wrinklie mess.
Now I HATE to iron. I have infact told him if he wants to wear it and not have it be wrinkled then he needs to iron it himslef. I know not a very nice thing for a wife to do but this should tell you just how much I hate to iron. So today feeling very nice for I pulled out my Shark hand held and attached the cloths steamer for the first time ever.
And with only a couple of minutes time you see the finished shirt. Looking like I spent more time on it then I did and ready for Justin to wear to work. This little thing is enough for me to LOVE my steamer. NO MORE IRONING!!!!!!
Now I promised a friend of my some money saving on this blog so lets just thinking about it. You spend between 5 and 10 for a mop. Then you have to spend between 2 and 5 for replacment heads and probally have to relace those once a month. And then you have to relace the mop every 6months to a year. Some of us sooner. If you have a swiffer you have to replace those pads every time and those are about 10 for a box of what 8 pads something like that I dont know someone can corect my math. My point in with both shark units all pads can be washed with your normal laundry so no replacement anything for a good long while if at all. Plus you arent buying the cemicals. there is savings there. and they have proven that steam kills just as many germs and any of those cemicals. so for all us moms what would you rather use cemicals that your kids could end up ingesting out harmless steam? Im going to stick with the steam and Im sure my hubby will enjoy the wrinckle free shirts

Fun Day Out
So yesterday we got up and headed up to the Las Vegas Temple grounds with the girls. Justin is going to be shooting pictures for a couple getting sealed there and so he wanted to check it out and get some stock shots to use in them before the accual day so he could spend all his time on them. The girls loved all the green grass and it was almost impossible to keep Embers shoes on her feet though she wasnt to sure about the grass on her legs when she sat down But she was to busy running around anyway.
After the temple we went and got some shopping done and then when to dinner. The girls had a super fun day and Justin got to enjoy his first time on the temple grounds with out thinking about work. For some reason I had forgots he had never been to see a temple before. The little things we forget about and take for granted when raised in the church sometimes take me by suprize. I told him I would have to take him up to Utah before we move back to the midwest so he can see some of those. Since they are some of the most beatiful. But they all carry with them that great sence of peace and calm that just makes you want to sit and ponder.
These are just some cute shots of our girls. I will try to get some more up that are the ones Justin took these are just from my little camera.

I love the villian!!
Kyra now has a new fav movie. And it was one we wanted to see before we bought it because my little sister Emily had seen it in theators and said it was a little scary. And so like good parents we added it to our Netflix movies and waited. And soon the Princess and the Frog was at our house. I watched it first to make sure it wasnt to bad and then let the girls see it. Well they were both hooked and not even scared by the bad guys. The down side was they wouldnt let us send it back to netflix till we got it for them, but since it had a good message we werent to upset to get it.
Now having watched it more times then I like to admit it got me thinking about the people I really like in Disney movies. And I have to say for the most part I LOVE DISNEY VILLANS. They get the best people to sing and voice them and lets face it the hero is normally kind of a wimp or someone who has to get over their huge flaws to become the hero we all expect. Or the one who you might think is a villian turns out to be the hero we all want.
But let me explain why I happen to love the villian. The villian is ditermand. And while you know that they are going to fail and part of them sees at some point that they are infact going to fail if something major doesnt change in their favor they still press on with the confidance that they are going to win and are even shocked when at the end they have their down fall from this wimpy hero. And then you have to think what made these villians go bad? See Villans have layors. And in the end there down fall or even death is normally pretty cool as they try to talk their way out of paying for their crimes, and why wouldnt they villians are always smooth talkers. And really if we think about it deep down we at some point root for the villian at least a little? I think its because they are the ones who seem the most human because they are flawed like the rest of us.
And so I must stand up and call for Disney to keep up the good work and keep giving us villians we can love even when we know they need to fail because when you think about it how good would a movie be with out an awsome villian?
Just call me the Clutz
Ok last week,on friday I was walking down our stairs. I wasnt rushing and I wasnt doing anything abnormal while I was walking. And while we do have some things on our stairs, saddly I cant even blame any of those things because they are at the bottom and I fell around the middle. I just took a step wrong sadly and before I knew it my anckle was swisted funny and I was falling. Now I will be the first to say my knees are bad, and so having stopped myself from falling many times when a knee went out I tried to do the same on the stairs.
Good note for anyone out there your knee going out and your anckle twisting make you fall in totally diffent ways.
So in trying to catch myself I accually probally did more to hurt myself than help seeing as my right leg twisted under me in my over corection and I ended up still falling down the stairs but now I was riding on my right foot, Justin said I was using it like the sled from the luge, funny how I didnt find the humor in this idea at the time.
Well when I untwisted my leg and Justin talked me into moving off the stairs as I was bawling my eyes out he got a good look at everything and then said that we would get to make a trip to the ER. Now it was like 12:30 at night and the girls were fast asleep and so I was thinking he was over reacting more then a little but him being the one not bawling and thinking that I might have brocken my new sled he made the call and I was told to deal. So we got the girls up and headed to the ER.
Now I happen to love the hospital close to us and over all the people who work there are great. I do have the odd question for the univers as to why ER's are always freezing? But we got me signed in and then waited thankfully they werent very busy. And then I was taken back all alone because Justin had to stay out with the girls and put behind a little curtain on a bed to wait. By this time I just wanted something for the pain but seeing as I was behind a closed curtain I couldnt really ask for anything. So with out complaining I waited till someone came to get me for X-Rays. Then some more waiting then the Doctor came in and looked it over and said he was just waiting for the X-Rays because at that time of night the he got to read them all and the tec would look them over in the morning to make sure nothing was missed. And so I got some lortab and I got to wait, yay for pain meds.
So after a little bit he came back in to let me know it was a bad sprain and the top of my foot was fine and I would be able to leave soon. I dont know how I rememberd probally from pain but I asked if there was nothing that could be done about toes. He hadnt even looked at my toes.lol. So he did a light sqeeze on my big toe which was fine and then the toe next to it and I practically jumped off the bed, and he was off to look at the X-Rays again. Turns out I was right I had a nice thick line through my toe were I had fractured it and so I got to get a hard souled shoe for that foot and and air cast for the anckle. And so after several hours I was brought back out to Justin and the girls and we went home.
Now having been through all of this I have a few mussings on it.
One: Breaking a toe sucks! If you are going to break anything just break the whole foot. The toe hurts but in all truth they cant do anything for it and just give you something to wear so you dont bend it this does nothing for the top of it and what could happen.
Two: Kids know when and how we hurt and I think they use this info. Ember got mad at me for yelling at her for dumping her milk all over the table so she could play in it, and I made her get down so I could clean it up. Well not liking her fun taken away she quickly walked over to me said mom so I would look at her and then stomped as hard as her little body would allow on my hurt toe.Normally this would have been funny but right now not the case. Now there have been many times my kids have brought me to tears but this was one of the few physical times. So she got a swot on the butt and put down for the nap I was thinking about not making her take.Needless to say she needed and got on after that display.
But over all im healing and hating that they say its going to be 4 to 6 weeks before im back to normal. and I have regained my great distain for crutches. But thankfully I have a great hubby who does so much around here. and with any luck in the next few days I can talk him into letting me ditch the crutches.lol
The Anckle that started it all.LOL
This is my right foot or as justin called it the sled. The cut and swelling and cut were the main reason for the ER trip
This is the pain in the tush toe. and the brusing below it. Since this pic it has truned more black and blue but that means its healing right?
And my oh so sexy foot here. This is and air cast so if you ever hear them say thats what they are giving you for somthing you know what it looks like.
Eating out. Or you know they are growing up when they order for themselves.
Our little girls are getting so big and there are tons of times that I sit back and wonder where the time is going.Kyra over the last year or so has gotten to the point were she will oder for herself at any resterant. and now that isnt enough, she now has to order for Ember as well. Most servers love this and think she is just the cutest thing and me and Justin we have gotten use to it. Im just waiting for Ember to get old enough to order for herself and shut her sister down.
These girls love sonic and they dont get it alot but they are so happy when they get it but Ember loves to share she really doesnt care with whom.
